SOCIALIZATION

Our SUPPORT GROUP rolls as a PACK; each outing is individualized to the participating Dog Teams.

Sometimes we travel in pairs, but often there are at least 4-5 Teams gathered.

Dog-Friendly places such as LOWE's HOME IMPROVEMENT and TRACTOR SUPPLY are great places to meet for SOCIALIZATION TRAINING.  We get real creative and often "Play the Environment" using shower stalls, narrow passages, and displays.  We practice Dog Safety, make sure our dogs get frequent relief breaks, and find places out of the way to sit, talk and rest.  These "Pow-Wows" afford great opportunity forSeparated Supervisions and Extended DOWNs and STAYs.

Often we take time to review the BASICS, and practice for the AKC CGC, CGCA and CGCU evaluations. We do DOG/DOG Pass-Bys and work on different surfaces, around loud machinery, and use any crowd situation we can take advantage of.

We always clean up after our dogs, treat the staff with courtesy and express our appreciation for getting to use the place of business.

[Owners of businesses are actually only allowed to ask “IS THAT A SERVICE DOG?” and “WHAT TASK DOES IT PERFORM?”. A Handler should not hesitate to offer up a simple, legitimate response.]
